I received my Acid 5 & SF 8 software today... got all excited... installed Acid5... went to play some of my Acid4 acdzip files... beep-boop-beep-beep! WTF?!? Finally figured out (from some reading here at the forums - thanks) that there was som e"demo" pluggins that I had no idea was an issue to use back in Acid 4... now a big part of my song collection is hosed in Acid5 unless I go remove all the "offending" demo pluggins. What a freaking crock... is the the new Sony influence?? "Oh... now you gotta pay for what was "free" before... btw, you may not have known it was "demo" but too bad... pay up sucker!!" This is blackmail really... go remove all the pluggins from your previous work or else pay up for the pluggins that were previously a part of eralier versions (at least they seeemed to be!?!) Sorry... but I feel a bit put upon!! |

Have you tried using the migration tools to update all the plugins from your previous installation? Should work Ok. |

Thanks jumbuk but no. I haven't a clue where to even begin with "migration tools". And, quite frankly, I shouldn't have to be deeking around with this kinda garbage whenever I upgrade. If I built airplanes the way these dam software geeks make programs... we'd have planes raining from the skies!! |

Did you read the ReadMe file? Did you register the DirectX plugins? It should work Ok. |

Well, logically speaking, writing DAW software isn't a life or death situation like building a good plane is. :) In any case...completely uninstall everything, including ACID 4. Ensure that any folder residue is deleted as well. (Anything, by default, under "C:\Program Files\Sonic Foundry" and "C:\Program Files\Sony".) If the "Shared Plug-Ins" folder also still exists after uninstalling, delete that folder as well. Then reinstall using only the updates. Keep your serial keys handy. Thanks for the help folks!! Yes... I did read (and then reread) the readme file for the migration tools. I still can't figure where to go to register those errant plugins. I'll just pull em out and use other plugins since everything else seems to be working great in both the new Acid and SF programs. Thanks again for the help! Sorry I got testy... I'd just rather be spending my free time using these tools rather than trying to get them to work!! :) |
