In order to take full advantage of the "64 bit float point" in SF8, is it recommended to upgrade to a 64bit CPU and OS or can I get the same benefits on a P4 or ATHLON DUALIE? Is there a way to get true dual processor power with this software (run it off both processors)? |

A 64 bit processor is not necessary, That Athalon64 is a good choice, however, but only because it runs REALLY fast, not because it's 64 bit. As for taking advantage of dual processors, Sound Forge has taken some advantage for years. (even the early versions would make use of two, although mostly so that one processor was handling user interaction and the other was doing the processing). In 7.0 and 8.0, if you have a dual processor machine, Sound Forge will allow two files to be processing simultaneously. But there really isn't any way to get both processors cranking on a single file. The reason has more to do with the way plugins are designed than the way Sound Forge is designed. If we changed this, most if not all of your effects would break. tj Message last edited on5/18/2005 4:37:03 PM by_TJ. |
