I've been working with SF 8.0a just about every day since the release of the update, including though this Memorial day holiday whilst the rest of you were partying, drinking beer, ect., and all of the initial bugs have been fixed (thanks). A few minor but annoying bugs I've found in 8.0a. I don't know if these existed in 8.0. I know I'm nit-picking and will probably be ousted from the forum like Red.. but hey, this is allegedly pro audio software. ------------------------------------------------------------- - RMS Meter/ Logarithmic: Meter displays -66dB on silent segments. (muted audio) where it should display -Inf. ------------------------------------------------------------ - Track Compressor: Bypass mode, causes Input & output meters to display +679.5dB .... yes, you read that correctly, six hundred seventy-nine decibels above 0dBFS. ------------------------------------------------------------ - Multband Compressor: Strange behavior with three or less of the bands bypassed and/or soloed in any combination. Meter display, realtime audition or process does not happen unless soloed .. .. Though it works sometimes...At this time, I can't find any specific pattern for this behavior to occur. ------------------------------------------------------------ All the above instances manifest themselves in single operation or in a plug-in chain. The logarithmic VU scale issue will be fixed in the next update. The problem with multi-band dynamics is that it turns out solo/bypass behavior is reversed for Band 4, which will obviously lead to some very strange results. This will also be fixed in the next update. Thanks. |

That explains it, and thanks for the heads up. Rick |
