I am very new to the"Sound Forge 7.0" software and am trying to create tracks on edited Recordings from the Sony ICD-ST25 Recorder. I currently use this recorder for classwork and I would like to divide the recordings into tracks for ease of use. So far I have only been able to create a single track that lasts for 76 minutes. I have played with the regions and markers but this does not help build tracks. All I currently have is the book that came with the Sound Forge and I did read that a more "in depth" PDF file is available. By the way, I can't get into the "edit Regions" or "Regions list" (I tried right clidking as the instructions state) I have markers but can't locate change markers to regions. I read that only the full version lets you do that.... do I have the full version of 7.0? Any help will be appreciated. I don't know if you have the full version or not. ;) If you do have it, under Special / Regions List / Markers to Regions. If you have that option then you have the full version. If not, then you probably have the studio version. If you do have the full version you can convert markers to regions. Make sure you have markers at the beginning and end of the file as well as at track breaks! Then under Tools you can Extract Regions and each region becomes a separate .wav file. Use your favorite CD burning software to create a Disk-At-Once audio CD and each separate file becomes a track. If you have the studio version then you can doubleclick between the first two markers to select that section, Ctrl-C to copy, Ctrl-E to paste to new file. Save this new file as a .wav file. Now doubleclick between the 2nd and 3rd marker to select the next section and save it as a .wav file. Repeat for all sections. Use your favorite CD burning software to create a Disk-At-Once audio CD ... etc. Version 8 comes with CD-Architect that lets you automatically burn a CD with separate tracks for each region. |

Thank Chienworks, you've cleared up a whole lot for me. I do have ths studio version which is probably all I need. I found a couple of things you mentioned and created my regions but could not burn them separately on the CD. Is there any software that would take a recording and automatically adjust the sound levels to a constant optimum level? I am having to go into each file and take out the high levels and boost the lows. Basically I have to save the regions individually then assemble them on a "burn file". Cool, Thanks. If you need any information on roadracing motorcycles, I'm your man. :-) Take Care, Gene |
