Using SF 8.0a. Ran a batch job on a bunch of files, set BC script to overwrite the files with the processed ones. This worked fine with BC 5. Rather than overwrite, BC deleted the files, that is the directory they were in was empty after the job ran. Is this a known bug? Message last edited on6/27/2005 4:07:54 PM byR0cky. |

Are you sure they were deleted? Was the "same as source" option chosen under the "Save" tab? (If Batch Converter can't find the last folder that was used, the default is "C:\".) Iacobus ------- RodelWorks - Original Music for the Unafraid Buy Instant ACID by JohnnyRoy and mD! mD at ACIDplanet |

OK, I did a complete search of all of my hard drives - the files definitely got deleted rather than being written over with the processed files or being put in some random location. I did select "save in source" directory, same format, same this, same that, same file name. Batch Converter 5 did not do this - it saved over the original files correctly. Not a huge issue, I just have to run the job again but it is an inconvenience and clearly a bug. I have not tried to reproduce it, but I will. Message last edited on6/30/2005 8:04:26 AM byR0cky. |

For the record, I had exactly the same experience. To get round it, I wrote them to new files and manually deleted the originals. Didn't have time to figure out what was going wrong. PS Watch the log while it is creating the files. It gives an error message for each one - something like - "can't overwrite - file in use". |

'Overwrite' implies that the old files are gone, and new ones there with same filenames. If you wanted to keep the old ones, why select 'overwrite' ? Internally to the app , in an 'overwrite' scenario, I would expect the batch operation to be performed first on a temporary file, then the source files to be deleted, followed by saving the result. with the same filename. geoff |

"'Overwrite' implies that the old files are gone, and new ones there with same filenames. If you wanted to keep the old ones, why select 'overwrite' ? " Who said we wanted to keep the old ones? We just want to replace the old ones with the new ones uaing the same names. This is what it used to do. Now, it deletes the old ones but won't save the new ones - you end up with nothing. Go try it yourself! |

For those of you seeing this, can you elaborate on the source format and location, the processes applied, the metadata settings, and available drive space? The exact error message would be helpful, as well. Thanks |

18 files, source format *.wav, located in a directory on a hard disk known as W: which is a 100 GByte partition on a RAID 0 drive using an adaptec 1200A raid card. Processes applied: dc offset removal (scan whole file), normalize to -20 dBrms using equal loudness contour and dynamic compression limiting. Metadata: none entered, all fields blank. Available drive space about 25-30 GBytes. Save Options: file format same as source, template same as source, filename same as source, file folder same as source. There was no error message. The job ran fine and when I looked for the output the directory was empty. Message last edited on7/6/2005 5:51:23 PM byR0cky. |

Ok, we been able to identify and fix the problem (it only happens when peak files don't exist for the file being converted). This should work correctly in the next update. Thanks for pointing out the problem and helping us track it down. |
