First, I must confess that this is ALL new to me. I can't even understand the lingo. I used to have Version 5.0 and learned enough to do what I needed to do which is basically to extract audio from CDs, LPs and other sources, edit them (set begining/ends, eliminate noise, clicks & pops, volume, etc.) and burn the songs into a half-decent CD. Since I moved up to Version 6.0 I am particulary bothered by the fact that the sounds are shown "compressed" and I don't get a clear view of the beginnings, endings or "problems" in a particular song. Anybody knows how to resolve this issue...? |

Not sure what you mean? I assume you know how to adjust the waveform display resolusion with the Up/Down arrow keys and the + / - keys. |

Thanks a lot for replying. Sorry that I can not express myself more clearly. I'm just a dumb rookie here... Let me try to explain the situation... I used to work with SF Version 5.0 In that set up when I extracted audio from, let's say, a CD I would get extended waveforms. In order to see the whole audio I had to move the bar underneath from side to side... I could see very clearly beginnings and ends, I could spot sound drops, and in the case of LPs I could detect pops. With Version 6.0 I get to see the waveforms for the whole audio without having to move the bar from side to side. The whole thing is right there in front of me but it is obviously compressed and I can not see anything but huge black waveforms...no details... Are you following me now? I have been using the "zoom" but I can not control it and it gives me a view of the waveform which is too enlarged... I want to be able to see those waveforms exactly the way I saw them in version 5.0. I wish I could have kept that version but I needed to re-activate the program and the guys at Sound Forge told me they do not re-activate version 5.0 any longer and suggested that I do an upgrate to 6.0... Your input will be greatly appreciated. |

Don't have SF 5 or 6 but suppose it is largely the same as in SF8: Under 'Options' and 'Preferences' you can view the 'Display' tab. There you find various settings possible for custom zoom ratio - perhaps you can adjust those to find your preffered zoom? With the button "default all" you will return to the default settings. |

How are you zooming? You should have excellent control. I prefer the + and - keys. You can also use the scroll wheel of the mouse or buttons just to the right of the scroll bar i the lower right corner of the window. |

In addition to the above, another way to adjust the waveform height on SF-6 is to the left of the horizontal scoll bar in the the bottom of the SF window.. (looks like a little magnifying glass) By your decription I think this may be the setting your looking to adjust.. To quickly go to the zoom out size, Select "Ctrl.+ down arrow" |

I am really touched by you guys out there coming to the rescue... You make this world a much better place to live. Your suggestion worked. I experimented changing the zoom ration and found "my ideal" setting at the third try. Now I can see what I am doing. Thanks a lot. God bless. |

This other suggestion also worked, except that the "little magnifying glass" that did the trick for me was the one on the RIGHT not the one on the left. Today, thanks to you all, I am a little less ignorant... God bless. |
