Hi, folks. I am attempting to convert a .wav file to a .mov file in SoundForge. All seems well until the very end of the conversion, when I get the error... "An error occurred during the current operation. An error occured while converting with a codec." I noticed the following instructions in the knowledgebase, which was the closest I could find... "When trying to save an MP3 file at low bitrates, the error message 'An error occurred while saving one or more files. An error occurred while opening a codec.' appears. Answer: If this error appears then go to the Process menu in Sound Forge, before trying to save as an MP3, and resample the file to the template's description sample rate, such as 22,050 Hz. Then when you try saving the file after the resample it should not produce the error message." I sample rate converted the file to the rate I desire for the .mov file and then tried to save it. Still, I get this same error. Any other ideas? |

You may need to reinstall Quicktime. Be sure to select the full installation option that says "...for Media Creators and developers" or something like that. |

Are you certain you installed the authoring components? |

I'm going to suggest you completely uninstall Quicktime (save your registration info for Pro first), or better yet, use your Restore Point or DOS registry restore command (depending on which version of Windows you are using) to bring you back to a relatively untainted state. Then, reinstall Quicktime with the authoring components as "ForumAdmin" suggested, re-enter your Pro registration info (Quicktime Pro is really useful for a bunch of stuff) and try it again. I'm using Windows 98SE, Quicktime Pro 5, and Quicktime 6 and I can still render a .wav to .mov with no complaints, and I am using SF 5 !! (I tried it before I made my first response to your post) This really shouldn't be a problem for you unless there is an installation or registry problem on your machine. I don't remember "authoring components" being an option in the installation procedure. Did I miss something? Are those extra downloads from apple.com? Message last edited on10/15/2005 11:30:19 AM byWilcox. |

When you install QuickTime, choose the custom install and select everything in the list. |
