Let me rephrase what you are asking to make sure I understand-- You have an instrumental audio track that you would like to record additional sound to? As an example, you may want to record yourself singing over the track? You selected the wrong software to accomplish what you want to do. Sound Forge is not a mixing application. Vegas can mix and combine multiple audio tracks, but Sound Forge cannot. Message last edited on10/26/2005 3:16:31 PM byJamil. |

You can simulate sound-on-sound recording with Sound Forge. Record the instrumental first and save this as a WAV file. Change your sound card to record the "Stereo Out", "What U Hear", or similar input. Play the instumental file back with MediaPlayer or any other music playing program. Mix the instrumental with your vocal using your sound card's playback mixer to adjust the levels of Wave playback and Mic or Line, depending on how you are connecting your microphone. When you've got the mix right, start recording in Sound Forge and start the instrumental playback from the beginning again. Sound Forge will record the mix of the instrumental and your vocal. You can keep building up more and more parts by repeating this process. |
