Subject:Adjusting level in a .avi file

I just finished editing my step-sister's wedding in Vegas and am making final preparations to burn it to DVD for her. I'd like to go through the .avi file though and bump up some low level audio that occur throughout the file. Certain sections such as their vows and some of what the priest said are lost (I was unable to use the wireless mics I had brought along with me because of a forgotten audio adapter to get it into the camcorder. ARRrrrrrrggghhh!!) The music, on the other hand is fine in level. So what are my best options? I have no problem using Noise Reduction to clean up the noise in the track but what about getting the audio more level? Normalize, use the Envelope tool, or Wave Hammer? I'd love to be able to use a tool like i've seen on other programs where the audio level is drawn across the middle of the wave form and you can create edit points and raise or lower the level from the midline of the waveform and edit levels that way. Much like the Graphic EQ allows you to set up a curve. SF doesn't have that option for level control across a track does it? Mike Message last edited on11/15/2005 6:55:52 AM byMikeA. |

Hi Mike, Yes, you can apply a volume envelope to your audio using the Automation features in the Plug-In Chainer. Look up automation in the SF help or check out the Automation section in chapter 9 of my Sound Forge 8 Power book. Best regards, Scott -- Scott R. Vegas has an audio level envelope tool. Click on the track in question and press V. Maybe this will do what you need right in Vegas. |
