Subject:markers to regions labeling?

I insert markers and add a specific label name such as "intro" , "sermon", "music" etc. After organizing my sound file, I then convert makers to regions.

My problem is with the way SF automatically organizes the names of my regions as shown in the regions list. SF inserts the start and stop time and the start and end marker names that I have editing in previously. I'm then forced to edit the regions labels. I don't wish to do this as I have already labeled the markers to my satisfaction. I have play edwith the "options-labeling" settings and they make no differance.

I find it easier to insert markers then convert to regions so to suggest inserting regions directly is already something I thought of. My question is: is there a way for SF to not to insert the start and stop times etc in the region's name field when using the "markers to regions" command?

Thanks

After more than a week with no one responding to my message, I contacted Sony Tech support. As I suspected, the problem discussed in my message is really a software bug in 8.0b. Changing perferences does not change how the regions are labeled.

So my next question is: does Sony really monitor this forum. Do they even read and attempt to understand the questions that their customers have? Why has no one from Sony reponsed here?

The SONY engineers are all busy (or so we hope, anyway) programming their fingers to the bone. This is a peer-to-peer support forum, so we don't expect them to come in here to answer us. We're very happy when they do, but we don't ever count on it. That's what tech support is for. The fact that no one responded to your question should indicate to you that no one else is having the same problem, which means that if it is a bug, it's not a very important one, at least to other users. True, it may be very important to you and i certainly wish it gets fixed for you or that you find a workaround for it.

So, hang in there. Chances are that the next time you have an issue someone in here will have a solution for you. Or, maybe you'll be the one with a solution to someone else's problem. :)

The markers-to-regions labelling behavior is by design, though obviously not what you want.

One trivial workaround is to export the re-named region list to a text file where you can more easily delete the stuff you don't want, and just re-import it. This can be done via Special->Regions List->Save As and Open.
