I'm a new user to Sound Forge and the only problem I have so far is that every time I want to get the mic to work, I have to remove and reload the software It works fine after a fresh reload, but as soon as I close the program, and later on re-open it, the sounds can play in my head set, but the mic on my headset won't work. The recording feature pics up nothing from my mic. Any suggestions? |

Sound Forge doesn't choose or control the inputs. That is done by the mixer software for your sound card. Double-click the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of your screen to access this mixer. Choose Options / Properties / Recording / OK. You will now see the inputs available to be used for recording. Select the Mic and adjust the volume there. Note that these settings are completely independant of the Playback selections. You can have your sound card set up to listen to the mic through the headphones, yet set to record a different device. This is probably what is happening in your case. |

I tried that but it still doesn't monitor the levels on the mic or record anything I'm speaking into the mic. Thank you for your help though. |

Go to (options) and select (preferences), next select the (audio tab )and then go to (default recording device) make sure that the correct audio card is selected. Then click (apply) and then (OK). If it still not working, then try a different mike input cable. also, double check windows sound driver that it's recognising your audio card and it's selected as the primary audio device. Those options are located in the control panel options. Good luck. Message last edited on12/10/2005 7:08:35 PM byBillae. |
