audio sync problems with SF8 MPEG2 plugin -Sound Forge - PC

I have the Standard version and when I save an MPEG2 file the audio often goes out of sync by multiples of 180ms. Sony suggested that perhaps I should convert my MPEG2 files first to AVI files since editing compressed format files often results in audio sync problems. So does this mean the plugin is mainly for creating MPEG2 files from AVI files ? I also noticed that most of my MPEG2 input files have "field order" set to "top field first" but the Standard versions templates only create "bottom field first" files. I thought that perhaps it would make a difference if I were to change the "field order" setting to match that of the input file. However, I can only do this with the Professional version. Does anyone with the Profesional version also experience audio sync problems on saving their files? ie. Does changing field order make any difference?
