I have Verizon DSL - I download files similar to SF8 in size (50 MB) in 4-6 minutes depending on the SERVER'S upload speed. For months (periodically) I have tried to download the 8.0 updates to fix a flawed release. The problem is once the download starts; the rate slows way down to 1 KB/sec to 980 bps. That pretty well ties up the computer for the rest of the week. Does anyone have any clue as to where the server's bottleneck is or if there is a mirror site that's more reliable? I'm sure some of you will tell me that you have no problem with the download, which will lead me to this question: what city will I need to fly to with my laptop and which hotel has WIFI so I can update Sound Forge 8.0? |

Try the ftp site directly: ftp://download.sonypictures.com Go the "current" folder and try it from there. |

YEAAAAY! Thanks kryten!!!! The ftp is the way to go - I was able to D/L the update in 4.5 minutes. It would be interesting to know why the web link provided takes one to a bottleneck. I'm sure there are others out there with the same problem and now you've provided a solution others searching can find - Sony owes ya! ;) |

Glad I could help! As far as I'm concerned, if a FTP link is available for a download, it's the only way to go (MUCH less traffic than http). |
