I am new to soundforge and I have a live recording of people talking with a hiss in the background. I am in the noise reduction and it is really helping but it adds high pitched clicks to my track. How do I reduce these clicks in noise reduction? I have played around alot and read previous topics on this forum about it. I think that maybe I just don't understand how noise reduction works. How do you capture a noise print...I know this is probably key but I really don't know how to use it. So far I have captured a noiseprint but I don't know if I am applying it properly. Please help! Thanks a bunch! |

When capturing a noise print, you should first select a section of your recording that contains only the noise you want to get rid of. You don't need much, but try to find at least half a second somewhere. Highlight this section, then open up the noise reduction plugin and capture the noise print. If you had based the noise print on any of their talking then noise reduction would be trying to reduce the talking too and that could introduce a lot of nasty garbling. Once you've gotten the noise print from that small section change the selection to the entire file. Preview there recording and play with the amount of reduction by using the top slider. It may take a second or two for each change to become apparent so be patient. When you hear a significant amount of noise reduction that doesn't alter the voices apply it. Often it is better to reduce noise in several smaller steps rather than one large step. After each small step create a new noise print and use that noise print for further reduction. Take note that the noise reduction plugin assumes that the noise is constant throughout the entire recording. If the noise changes in character or volume then the results can be unpredictable and undesirable. You may have to apply noise reduction to multiple sections of the recording individually in these cases. |

Thank you for the info. I noticed something else. When I try to use my NR 2 plug in it says DEMO. On the soundforge box it says that NR2 is included. I tryed downloading an update and it stilll thinks it is a demo. Have you had this problem or know what to do? Thanks. Holly |

Ok....I figured out that I did not register my NR2, so I registered and now the high pitch noises are gone. It thought my demo had expired. Now I can try your suggestions above and see what happens. Thanks so much for your help! I really appreciate it! |
