I'm editing a recording of a conference call where the two speakers were unfortunately using wireless phone headsets. This produced a "botton of the well" effect on the file. I'm trying to erase this sound using the Sony Noise Reduction extension (Demo) but I can't find the right combo of Mode, Reduce Noise by, Noise bias, etc. that doesn't have random electronic beeps. Q1. is SNR the right tool for this job? Q2. would converting the file to WAV make it easier? FILE: mp3, 11,025 Hz, 16 bit, mono. I have a 36K mp3 sample of the problem I can send you. This is the first file I've ever tried to edit, so your help would be much appreciated. Tery McGraw Vancouver |

Q1. Is SNR the right tool for this job? No, SNR works great on HVAC, camera motor and other din type noise, it also has parameters to reduce clicks, snits & crackels for vinyl restoration, ect. Q2. Would converting the file to WAV make it easier? No.. but it would save quality when saving edits and processing. (Every time an MP3 is saved, it goes though another data compression process) Unfortunatly this "botton of the well" sound you describe, is probably difficult, if not imposible to fix. But sure, e-mail me a clip and I can give you more acurate opinion. Edit: Oh yeah I forgot, the beeps are only in the demo version. a limited time demo would certanly be better for one -time users.
