mov only showing up with audio

a .mov that plays fine in the quicktimeplayer... but as soon as i try to open it in vegas, only the audio is imported.

i have the latest version of quicktime. and vegas 6. and a budgie named Ørn (but that's not really relevant to this question.)

Anyone have a solution to this? (probably something supersimple that i should have been able to figure out mysef :)

Did the file come from a digital still camera? If so, it might actually be an MJPEG (Motion JPEG) in which case you'll need a codec. Two good ones are from MainConcept ($19) and Morgan Multimedia ($20).

probably a codec problem, yes. i'll check with the people what they used.. or ask for a version in a different format. .movs are always troublesome for me.

the film is originally from a AJ-HDX400 camera.

just had to check if it was something other thing i was overlooking, but i did suspect a codec problem :)

thanks.

I think I've had a similar problem and it's a QT HD DI hidden in that wrapper. My footage came from a Z1 and nothing would convert it.
The latest QT would only play the audio and that's all that showed up in Vegas.
