Problems V5, V6 and V7! Sony Support??

We do alot of animation and use vegas to composite and edit the scenes. We have had issues with Vegas since Vegas 5 and we have bbeen with Vegas since version 3. The problem is....when you have a timeline that is full of targa sequences- Vegas randomly crashes! It can crash anywhere from 14% to 70% complete and it will just sit there forever counting down time expired while sitting on a single frame. You can't even cancel the render- you have to force quit Vegas! The only was to work around this, and you should not have to...is to take and convert all the targa sequences to Uncompressed AVI's (so you still have the alpha channels) and then edit with the uncompressed AVI's instead of the targa sequences. I wrote trouble reports for this with no responce from tech support but it is very frustrating that a program would continue with it;s ugrade cycle and never resolve the issues from previous versions!!! I love vegas and make a living with this tool, it's a good tool, but it has shortcomings for us when dealing with targa sequences and that needs to be resolved before moving to yet another upgrade!!

What size are the targa originals?

Are you running Vegas 7.0b?

Sorry- had to run out. The targa files are 1.00 meg per frame on the average. They will vary slightly from 990KB to 1074KB. I am using Vegas 7b. It was the same with all versions of 5 and 6 also!

AZEdit, I think he meant what resolution.

Thanks Fw....Well, if they are 1 meg targa frames for video...they would be 720 x 486 @ 72 DPI....and that is the resolution they are. As for defraging the drive...I render to a raid that is for rendering only and it is cleaned weekly or sooner when a project is finished.
