Like "Latency in Acid Music Studio's" post I'm having stutters/clicks/slowdowns when I try to play back a song...takes a few seconts to clear up/get to correct tempo on playback. I'm sure it's something with the pre-installed sound card I have (RealTek AC'97 Audio). I can make some of these problems seem to stop a little when playing around with the buffering and latency settings...but since I have no idea what those are, how can I find the BEST settings to use with my soundcard (defaulting all goes back to the clicks and stammers). Do I just need to buy a better sound card? |

consensus is that a sound card that supports ASIO drivers usually works best. There is a great free driver you can try called ASIO4all. check your current documentation to see if the card you have will do ASIO before investing in another. I think the sony guys use echo cards in their suites if it comes to that point. Jesse |

To add to what Jesse said, I have used ASIO4ALL with a laptop that only had the RealTek chip and it worked pretty well in a pinch. I would definitely get a "real" soundcard if you are serious about your audio. Anything from Echo or M-Audio will do. Stay away from "game cards" from Creative (i.e., SoundBlaster/Audigy). ~jr Message last edited on12/30/2006 10:37:35 AM byJohnnyRoy. |
