Subject:Playback Issue

I'm on a project for someone and they sent files to me in 96/24bit. When I imported these into SF I couldn't hear playback when I converted the file to 44/16. I could hear it fine at 24/96. The meters respond, SF is clearly reading the file, but no sound. I checked my outs and tried different settings but no go. Any ideas?

Using SF8 with Hammerfall RME card.
