I speced this system over on the Acid forum, but I'd like to get some opinions on running Vegas Video or Movie Studio on this box.:

http://techreport.com/etc/2007q1/sys...e/index.x?pg=2

Component Item Price
Processor AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ (Socket AM2) $135.00
Motherboard Asus M2NPV-VM $84.99
Memory OCZ Gold 1GB DDR2-800 (2 x 512MB) $115.99
Graphics Nvidia GeForce 6150 (Integrated) $0
Storage Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB $94.99
Lite-On SH-16A7S $36.99
Audio Nvidia nForce 430 (Integrated) $0
Enclosure Antec NSK 4400 w/380W PSU $69.99
Total
Buy this complete system at Newegg
$537.95

Any thoughts? Most of my experience is in using Acid, not much in video. Any feedback appreciated!

Thanks,

Two things worth noting:

1. You should have a seperate drive for your OS / Applications and another for A/V data.

2. You don't have an Operating System in your specs...

This system only just has enough memory to run Vista. 2GB min, best to have 4. Also for good work you need a quality stand-alone sound card like the M Audio Firewire 410. You need this for mic input for VO and low latency for monitoring same with cans. Also I would save a few buck up and go for a more powerful processor. Your aim should be native HDV editing where I think you need a quad. Vegas is a whole world more in need of power than ACID.

I'm running audio currently on an MOTU 828 mk1, so I've got that covered. I was gonna stick with XP since Vista is so new....I wanted to go tried-and-true.
