I am a newcomer to Soundforge and am having difficulty starting to record from cassette. I have tried to follow the help topics for Recording Audio but after choosing Transport/Record from the submenu can find no sign of the Method drop-down list. I would be most grateful if someone could advise me where I am gong wrong. |

Connect the Line-out on your cassette deck to the Line-in on the sound card. You will probably need a L/R RCA-to-stereo mini-plug adaptor if your using a consumer sound card. - Open Sound Forge: from the main menu, select: Options>Preferences>Wave on SF-8 selectOptions>Preferences>Audio>Classic Wave Driver and desired soundcard for recordand Playback). Select the desired soundcard for Record and Playback drop-down menu). Click OK Select: Ctrl+R, to open the Record ready window. Make sure the monitor check box is checked. - In Windows: Double-click the Windows speaker icon. Select Options>Properties>Recording. Under Show the following volume controls, check mark the box for Line. Click OK. Adjust the line volume control for optimal record levels while viewing the Sound Forge record window meter.(usually around -3dB to -6dB for commercially recorded material) - The "Options>Properties>Recording" volume faders, controls the audio level going to Sound Forge (or other recording software.- The "Options>Properties>Playback>Line" volume faders, control the source or playback audio level going to the speakers. These instructions may vary slightly for different sound cards and versions of SF. Message last edited on6/26/2005 5:27:57 PM byrraud. |

Judy, I realize it has been a long time, but would you please tell us what the results were with the suggestions? |
