Subject:Izotope Registration Question - registry or disk?

For the included Izotope mastering plugins for SF9 there is an advanced tab setting for the registration process. The 2 options are Registry or Disk. I find no explanation for the options either with what I received from Sony, or a quick check of the Izotope FAQ section of their website.

I'm guessing that you would use the registry option for a computer that has your programs all locally stored, and perhaps the disk option of you have some type of removable hard drive arrangment for some program installation - OR is it for something like the option in 3DMAx where you can keep a license key stored on a USB, network or Floppy drive and move it from computer to computer for use on one computer at a time.

Little confused here - sorry.

TIA

Tom

The "Disk" option allows you to transfer authorizations to whatever system you are on, as described here.

Since they will currently only show up in Sound Forge 9.0, and eventually in other new SCS hosts, there's not much benefit to doing so.

Note that you are free to install the package on more than one machine as long as you only use one at a time, according to this.

Sound Forge's EULA is similar.

Thanks a lot - what I expected, but didn't find the info on a quick search.

Much appreciated.

Hi J.

"Since they will currently only show up in Sound Forge 9.0, and eventually in other new SCS hosts, there's not much benefit to doing so."

The Izotope bundle is the only thing that would make me want to upgrade from SF8 to SF9, but I understand that it is not possible to use this plugin in other DAW applications. Your statement above suggests that this could change. Can you please clarify? I would upgrade today if I could use Izotope inside Cakewalk Sonar V6. If it's not going to be possible I will wait for SF10.

I have SF9 and the iZotope plug-ins are available in Vegas and Acid via the "Third Party" folder.

Thanks Peter. I just realised what J meant by "SCS hosts", so it looks like I am out of luck. I was hoping for more flexibility. Ah well.
