Hello, I have a 3hr sound file with lots of songs with loud clapping between each song because the mic was placed behind the audience. What is the best way to lower the sound of the clapping in SF9 and raise the sound of the singing? |

Highlight a section from just before the clapping starts until just after the clapping ends. Use Process / Fade / Graphic. You can add points to the blue line and drag them down to reduce the volume,at those points. So, if you add a point shortly after the start and shortly before the end of the selection you can lower those two points ot have the volume decrease as the clapping starts, and increase back to normal as it ends. |

Hi, thank you for the response. I am new to SF9, but I will give this a try and see how it fares. |

There is a lot of clapping and this seems to be a tedious way. What seems to be working is compressing and normalizing, and then compressing and normalizing. Does this sound like a valid technique? Am I losing a lot of sound quality by doing this? |

You won't necessarily lose a lot of quality this way. Try to minimize the number of times you do this process. Ideally once would be best. By doing this you can lose a lot of the dynamics though, which may make the music sound rather flat and dull. Sometimes the tedious method is the best method. Editing audio well is a serious craft that requires serious commitment! :) Message last edited on4/30/2007 3:05:37 PM byChienworks. |
