I have achieved this, but now it is not consistent. Am/shouild I be able to, from within Vegas7 > Open Copy/In SF and have the Video come with it too? Now I'm only getting the Audio. I CAN do this from WITHIN SF. I can open an AVI and have the video stream across the top of the SF workspace. But as a Right Click Copy/Open in SF from within Vegas - I'm not getting a consistent opening of the video? Audio fine - audio Copy/Open in SF works just as good as it always did. PAL SD Widescreen here. TIA Grazie |

"Open Copy" renders only the audio to a new file and sends that to Forge. If you just "Open" (not copy), then Vegas sends the original file (with video) to Forge. If you open a copy and then just close the file in Forge, the copy still becomes the new take in Vegas. J. Message last edited on6/6/2007 7:03:00 AM byForumAdmin. |

OK, here's the sequence: 1/- Open Vegas 2/- Import a clip 3/- Right Click on audio of VEGAS Clip and select "open In Sound Forge" - success, along with the AUDIO the VIDEO appears too - excellent! 4/- Close SF 5/- Return to Vegas 6/- Right Click on audio of VEGAS Clip and select "Open Copy In Sound Forge" the AUDIO opens but this time NO VIDEO appears! 7/- Close SF 8/- Return to Vegas 9/- Right Click on audio of VEGAS Clip and select "Open In Sound Forge" the AUDIO opens, but again NO VIDEO appears! However, what I've just twigged/noticed is that WITHOUT doing anything in SF to the "Open Copy in SF" a new TAKE is added to the "Vegas" AUDIO event. This is NOT the case when I "Open in SF". I don't get an extra TAKE added. But opening a copy in SF, TAKES are added, and it is this ADDITION of this new take that stops the "Open In SF" from having the VIDEO with it. If I click BACK to the original Audio TAKE, I CAN Open In SF and the Video comes along too. Soooo... To open the Video, as well as the Audio, in SF - from Vegas - I have to have the ORIGINAL AUDIO take that was with the ORIGNIAL Video. Is this done on purpose? Seems odd to me that although I may have "created" a new AUDIO Take ( albeit from a COPY procedure") that the Open In SF option, is now Audio only when getting BACK to SF? In fact it would seem to me counter productive and counter intuitive NOT to allow the video to come BACK with the NEW Audio take? - Odd? No? Regards Grazie |

It's working as designed. When you "Open in Sound Forge": a) Vegas invokes Sound Forge with the current file/take. If it happens to be a video file, the video tags along. When you "Open Copy in Sound Forge": a) Vegas creates a new audio-only copy of the event and makes it the active take. b) Vegas invokes Sound Forge with the current file/take (the audio-only copy). c) Whether you modify it or not in Forge, Vegas has already made the copy the active take. Sound Forge does nothing other than open the file it is given. If you are convinced this behavior is abnormal, perhaps you could elaborate on what you are trying to do in the Vegas forum. J.
