Subject:Recording issues with RME ASIO drivers

I'm attempting to extract specific card issues from the "SF9 not working in ASIO mode" thread. So this is primarly for drmathprog if you are out there. The original problem report was that Sound Forge would not permit 24-bit recording with RME ASIO drivers. In this case, I/O to and from the card is provided via ADAT optical. I’ve reproduced the setup in question with an Alesis ADAT II (44.1 kHz, 20-bit) and two different RME PCI cards: (a) HDSP9632 (driver v3.04) on Windows Vista and (b) DIGI9652 (driver v2.11) on Windows XP. I am not able to reproduce the problem with either card. Both sync immediately and, well, just work at any bit-depth and sample rate. Sound Forge 9.0a is set up with the default routing after selecting the appropriate ASIO driver. Frustrating. So, some questions: 1) How many channels? (didn't seem to matter for me) 2) Same drivers? 3) Same ADAT settings? 4) Anything other than ADAT optical hooked up to the card? 5) Is the ADAT the preferred sync source? 6) Anything else I may be missing in your setup? Just on a whim, you might try resetting Sound Forge’s preferences. Just hold down Ctrl+Shift while starting Sound Forge, check the “Delete all cached application data” checkbox, and click Yes. You’ll have to go into Options->Preferences->Audio and re-select the RME ASIO driver. J. Message last edited on6/13/2007 1:44:14 PM byForumAdmin. |
