Subject:Will I like SF9?

I have used products for recording live audio including Vegas, Wavelab, and Nuendo. For two channel recording, I am partial to Wavelab, but, for editing, especially multiple tracks, I generally use Vegas, although Wavelab, or Nuendo will certainly both do the job. I am eyeing the new SF9, and wondering if I will like it if I download it. Any advice would be appreciated. Del |

Maybe you should try downloading the demo and see for yourself. |

Thanks, Chien. I did download it. Couldn't really get excited about it. I very much respected Sonic Foundry and found them to be cutting edge. I like what Sony has done with Vegas, and have owned every version since SF Vegas Video 2.0. But, for some reason, although I have an old version of Sound Forge at home, I just never used it very much - have always used Wavelab for editing stereo files and also for recording multi-track stuff. But, I also, for some reason, get tempted by every new version of Sound Forge that comes out, then, refrain from spending the money, thinking that I probably would not give it a fair try. Still thinking about the new version - and would love to hear from someone who relies upon it as their main editor. Thanks for the response. "Still thinking about the new version - and would love to hear from someone who relies upon it as their main editor." There are lots of comments in this forum from those who use SF as their main editor and who have tried SF9. Spend some time reviewing these and I think you'll get a good overview of users' experience. I personally am waiting for some bug fixes with the first update before installing it. |

Indeed - you will find those of us who love it (I know I do), and those who prefer earlier versions. Only you can decide for yourself. |

Hmm. Thanks for the replies. I should have known that answers to such a question from a forum populated by knowledgeable and objective members would yield an answer that still leave me with work to do in order to make my own decision. Time will tell. Thanks again. Del Message last edited on7/10/2007 4:30:27 PM byDelCallo. |
