When is the best time to resample sound originally in video at 48,000 to 44,000 to put on a audio CD? Should I do it 1st or wait until all my editing is done? Also, I usually Normalize first to about -1.03. Then I edit, then resample, then wave hammer. Any suggestions about this, I'd like to know. Thanks |

You're going to get people arguing for different methodologies - and then you'll find the argument about normalising. And then the one about applying effects is destroying your audio. and then....sigh... Personally, I prefer staying at higher resolutions/depths until the last possible minute - as that gives me more "bits of information" to manipulate and edit with - certainly notice the benefits when time stretching. I never RMS normalise, as it can reduce dynamic range. But don't mind peak normalising leaving some headroom as you do. As far as I am concerned = the results matter, and my methods work for me, therefore they are good enough for me. If you have the inclination - do a few tests with differing scenarios (down sampling 1st, last etc) - let your ears decide which you prefer. HTH Ken |
