Subject:Noise Reduction 2.0h working for you?

After installing 9.0c/NR2.0h the NR plug stopped working.

The symptoms:
Doesn't keep settings from previous usage like it used to. May not have kept them all but it did keep FFT size. This isn't the real issue.

Select 100 msec. check capture noiseprint. hit preview. Used to stop after capture, doesn't any longer. Timeout checkbox has no effect.

More to the point, there is no noise reduction after you capture the noise print. I had the separate product version of NR before upgrading to SF 9. The install of SF9/NR prompted to uninstall the old version and I did.

Now I can't reproduce it - the part about no noise getting reduced. I tried rebooting and even power cycling the box before and it would repro. Now it's 5:30 in the morning and I just got awakened by the power in the house going out and back on waking up all of the devices in the house - now it works.

In both SF8 and SF9 when it failed in both before. ??

I think I know how to make this happen. NR appears to work fine with a stereo 44.1khz wav file.

I've been working with a mono 11 khz avi file. My Echo Layla 3G doesn't support 11 kHz natively so I had to switch from the ASIO driver to the classic WAV so windows can do it's sample rate conversion and I get sound.

There is inconsistent behavior in this case in both SF9c and SF8d.

In SF8, the bypass check box may or may not work.
In SF9, you won't get any noise reduction. Most of the time. I tried saving as wav, converting to stereo and that didn't work. Resampling then to 44.1 khz also made no difference. If I start with a file that was already a 44.1khz WAV it seems to work.

Never mind. I think this is all a sick windows installation. Very inconsistent behavior. New clean XP install on my other (dual boot) partition seems to be working fine.
