Subject:acid crashes whenever I try to play a song/sound

whenever I play a sound or song, acid "performs an illegal
operation" and shuts down. Anyone else have any experience
or a solution for this?

Im using a creative soundblaster pci 64 soundcard.
and Acid crashes on ANY sound that I play on it now,
including the sample songs/sounds that came with it.

any ideas would be appreciated...thanx.
