Subject:loops locking up ACID

I've started recording my own bass line lines in ACID Pro and my
machine
locks up when I playback what I've recorded. I thought I saw a
similar
thread in one of these NG's but I can't find it now. Is this an
AWE64 thing?
Is it the size of my newly recorded file locking up acid? I really
want to
be able to record my own guitar and bass lines without having to
reboot my
machine to hear them back. Will a Live! card make this problem go
away?
