I've just upgraded my video editing system to Matrox LE with Premiere RT running winnt 4.0 and am considering purchasing SF. DO I need the the full version $499 or will the cheaper version be ok. Do I need a separate sound card or does it work throught the Matrox board. All comments welcome and appreciated. SF newby |

This would probably fit better in the SF Discussion forum, but here's the answer: It really depends how deep your editing needs are. Both Sound Forge 4.5 and Sound Forge XP 4.5 will open .avi files and can edit the audio within. If you're looking to do a medium-small amount of audio editing, XP might be enough. If you want to have regions available within a playlist, or perhaps be triggered by an outside device, or do batch conversion, or run DirectX Plug-ins, Sound Forge is the better choice. And $499 is the retail price, but if you get it from one of our dealers, it's going to be significantly less costly. Feel free to call 1-800-57- SONIC if you don't know a dealer in your area.
