my sony HC7E came with motion picture browser(MPB). I installed it and then installed v8. V8 capture then failed to detect my camera or converter. Both firewire.

After a lot of messing around I uninstalled MPB -- still no joy so reinstalled V8 without MPB which solved the problem.

I think the same is true for V7 but have not tested it.

Hope this saves someone else have my problems
