Subject:Real-Time Pitch Shifting!!! Perhaps using enveloping!

Hello,

I am using ACID Pro and I was hoping that there would be a
feature to envelope the pitch of each individual loop. I
would like to create music in the style of WINK (Tweakin'
Acid Funk) and Prodigy! There is quite a bit of pitch
shifting going on, but it's more of smooth really fast
pitch shifting. Is there any way to control the pitch
shifting using "rubber-banding (enveloping)"? I have all
of the XFXs 1,2, and 3. Would I be able to do anything
using these? Right now, I have to split the track and
assign a different pitch to each little bitty "snip-it" of
that track. Then it gives a choppy undesireable effect.

Also, if anything in ACID could be improved, I would say
the previous (if not available now) and the zoom tool.
It's tough going up to the top of the screen to grab that
magnifying glass, do the zooming, then go back to the
previous tool. Maybe there's a keyboard shortcut, but
zooming in and out sucks right now. Has any of this stuff
been improved upon in 2.0?

My $.02.

Thanks,
Chet

One addition:
I would like to be able to achieve the pitch changing effect
interactively within ACID Pro. I know that there are great pitch
shifting features in Sound Forge, but I don't want to have to go back
and forth between two different programs.
Sorry for being picky, but it would be nice to be able to "tweek" the
pitch interactively.

Thanks again,
Chet

Up and down arrow keys will zoom the timeline.

Thanks Peter!

What about the pitch shifting?

I tried to use the XFX "Pitch Shift" plug-in, and then use enveloping
on that XFX assignment on one particular track, but I still hear the
original track and the enveloping only changes the volume of the same
pitch that has been shifted, and does not change the pitch occording
to the envelopes. Is this type of pitch changing possible?

Thanks again,

Chet

Can't do what you want in ACID. Just not implemented this way.

I will add it to the request list though...

The reason you can't do it with the FX chain is that you get a mix of
both the original and the FX. Just not what you want to do.

OK Thanks Peter!

I hope it's seriously discussed there at the Foundry! It would be a
GREAT feature!
