I'm not sure this has anything to do with ACID 2.0, although I use it and want to use it more. I'm prevented from doing this because for some reason I can't record into my computer. I'm new to computers and sound recording some I wear the moron hat here. I have a Peavey mixing board and an acoustic/electic guitar. What I've been doing is plugging my guitar into the board and then the board into the line in of my soundcard. I have a Soundblaster Live card. I hit the record button on either ACID or on my Windows 98 sound recorder app. Nothing comes out. What am I missing? Thanks |

In order to make sure that recording will work properly, you may need to check the path that your audio is following from the source to ACID™ PRO 2.0. This path is: sound source, connecting cable, connected to the sound card input on the computer, the sound card wave driver in Windows, Volume Control mixer application, and finally ACID™ PRO 2.0, which records onto the hard drive. If you do not seem to be receiving your audio source in ACID™ PRO 2.0, take the following steps to ensure that your audio chain is correct. Make sure that all cables are correctly connected and that your sound source (e.g. tape deck) is operating at an adequate level. Also check the mixer or anything else that you have between the sound source and the sound card input. If you're recording from your CD-ROM drive, make sure there is a physical cable either internally or externally connecting the CD-ROM drive to the sound card. If you hear audio from your computer system monitor speakers when playing an audio CD, this usually means the connection exists. Bring up the Volume Control mixer dialog by double-clicking on the speaker icon on the taskbar. If this is not present, go to Start/Programs/Accessories/Multimedia or Entertainment, and select Volume Control. In the Volume Control dialog go to the Options menu, and choose Properties. Click the Recording radio button, and make sure that all of the boxes under Show the following volume controls are checked. Then click OK. Verify that the correct input device (Line or Mic) is selected or not muted and that its volume level is turned up. You may also wish to unselect or mute any inputs you are not using, as this will add unwanted noise to the recorded sound. Go to Start/Settings/Control Panel/Multimedia, and verify that the sound card you wish to use is the selected device for Recording. Inside of ACID™ PRO 2.0, open the Record Dialog by pushing the red Toolbar button (or Control+R). If you placed the cursor at a location within your project, this will be the location ACID™ PRO 2.0 will begin recording to by default. You can also change this to Start of Project by making that selection. Select the sound card to which your source is connected. In ACID™ XPress or ACID™ Music 2.0 this device was chosen in Multimedia (#3). ACID™ PRO 2.0 will allow you to choose any available sound card input. Take note of how much Free Space is remaining in the Record folder. If you wish to record to a drive or partition with more available space, make this choice before you begin recording. Please note that ACID™ PRO 2.0 does not have the capability to control the volume of your input to the computer, and this must be accomplished either by adjusting the sound card's mixer application or a physical mixer between your source and the computer. Different computer systems may have a Volume Control application or mixer that differs from our generic description. Some sound cards (Digidesign, Digital Audio Labs) have additional settings available in Control Panel/Multimedia/Advanced/Audio Devices/YOUR AUDIO DEVICE/Settings. Thanks. Paul W.
