Subject:trouble recording direct in Acid - can't rec. more than 22 sec.

Has anyone else had this problem, and better yet a
solution. I realise it could be a windows thing but for the
life of me I can't fix it. When I record into Acid (a mic
or guitar or anything) I can't get more than 22 seconds
before a glitch ruins the track. It has been consistent
too. At around 20-22 seconds it skips a byte or two and
ruins the track's sync but then continues to record. When I
record into windows sound recorder that doesn't happen -
I've written to Sonic foundry's tech support with no answer.
HELP!

Hello Robert.

I'm sorry that we were unable to get back to you for whatever reasons
may have come up. We are always very good about getting back to
people in a reasonably short amount of time through email. To me, it
sounds like you may either be running out of space on your temp
folder on your drive, or, the soundcard drivers are a bit out of date
and should be updated. You can change the "Record" folder directly
from the record screen, as for the soundcard updates, you could find
them on the soundcard manufacturers website.

Thanks.

OK - I thank for your reply - however I've checked the things you
suggested, and although I had already updated my soundcard drivers, I
checked once again for an update. Since I've been so visably
frustrated over all of this, my girlfriend who kept insisting that it
my copy of acid 2.0 must simply be flawed somehow, went out and
bought another copy, despite my objections. It doesn't work either.
So in my never ending quest to get Acid 2.0 to work the way it does
for everyone else I know who has it, I'm writing again. Here are a
list of facts and thing I've done or checked:

1. Windows sound recorder records live w/o problem
2. Soundforge records live w/o a problem
3. I've updated sound card drivers
4. I've got 13 gigs left and dedicated for acid recordings
5. I've made sure all unnecessary programs all closed while trying to
record - including anti-virus software.
6. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the program "properly" several
times.
7. I've experimented with windows hardware acceleration settings
trying every possible setting and then returned them to their default
settings after finding out that I could only make the problem worse.

8. I've tried different buffer settings and then returned them to the
factory default with the same results.

9. I never had a problem with Acid Loops 1.0 or whatever it was
called.

????????????????????????HELP???????????????????????????????????????!!!
