Hi everyone,

I've recently taken the time to put a real user interface
on a couple of utility apps I developed for Freeside's
internal use - a Batch Acidizer for wavefiles and an
experimental MIDI "Extractor". I've been using the current
build for about two weeks, and figured its time to put out
a public beta.

You can find it at www.thefreeside.com/utilities

And yes, it's freeware!

Yeehaw!

Great stuff, Chris! I've been looking for an "Batch Acidifier" ever
since i got the program. Thumbs up!

The MIDI converter sounds great too (haven't tried it yet). I suspect
you can use this to easily convert your ACID song to (for example)
Cubase. If this is the case I'm in heaven! ;)

Also, good UI. Orderly, easy and very user friendly.

Thank you very, very much!

Hi Chris,
Great Job!!!,I've only had it a day now and im using it on a one shot
drum collection CD-Rom.The UI is very clean and seem to keep in the
Acid platform very easy to use. I've only used the Acid batch, but I
like it very much. This is something EVERY Acid user needs. Please
let me know when there are updates!

Thanks guys! I'll probably release the final 1.0 in the next couple
weeks, though the only changes may be in the MIDI Extractor (found a
bug involving loops that start with offsets and are retriggered in
the same region). I haven't got a single bug report yet on the Batch
Acidizer, and haven't found any myself.

The MIDI Extractor will hopefully make transferring a project over to
a MIDI sequencer easier, if not easy. The transformation has a lot
of little nuances to it, so I've kept it fairly simple so far, but I
would eventually like to have it bring across some more complicated
aspects of the Acid file, such as pan/volume envelopes. For now it
just generates an "exceptions" list to give the user a "to do" list
for things it can't yet do.
We (Freeside) are frequent users of multipoint envelopes and sample
offsets (things that don't translate easily), so it gets us about
halfway to a faithful reproduction of the file.

Any suggestions you have for other nice features/utilities are
welcome, and I'll be adding in a couple more utilities in next few
months for the 2.0.
