That's the pop up windows message I get when I try to open Sound Forge 9. This just started today for no apparent reason. It has been working fine for months. Has any one else had this problem. The same goes for CD Architect and Vegas Pro 8. Acid Studio 6, Cinescore, and DVD Architect still open. AMD Dual Core Vista 64 bit 4Gig RAM Presonus Firepod |

Have you got any other apps open before-hand that use the audio drivers? |

No. Nothing else was open. Actually I tried to open CD Architect first to burn a cd after a session. Then I figured I'd better try Sound Forge because I had another session after that and I use SF to convert wave to mp3. I've tried system restore, uninstalled and reinstalled SF and they still don't open. |

Ok, try the "reset" combo of Ctrl+shift(?) when you click to open the programs - this will restore SF to factory settings, which may not happen when installing/unstalling (registry keys and files get left etc etc). When I get these symptoms here is what I do: 1) Close any other audio app that may be using the driver. 2) If that fails, I restart PC. That usually solves it 3)Someone like J will chip in an come up with a great answer that willl help you! [It's a little odd, because SF in XP will tell me that another app is using the audio drivers, and it will switch to one that is available. In Vista, it just stops working before it's even loaded rather ungracefully.] |

Resetting didn't work. I went ahead and did a system restore back to 11/30/07 and it's back up and running. The only change made from then to now I believe was the addition of T-Racks standalone. Thanks for the help. |
