Subject:Markers in the Stretch view

I just purchased Acid Pro 2.0 and I am trying to do this (This is hard to explain for a non-musician...): I openned a non-acidized WAV file to see how I can have it synchronized with the tempo of my project. This file is a keyboard line that was recorded with a not-so-tight tempo, meaning that during the 8 seconds or so, the tempo varies a little bit. After opening the file, I noticed that Acid made an OK job at identifying the start, end and some other middle notes. The way I understood markers is that they can be used to force the stretching to respect certain points as, for example, whole note points. So I started adjusting the markers so that they fit on the WAV precisely where the whole notes should be. Now, when I play back this track, the marker points seem to never be considered. Am I missing the point about the use of markers? Am I supposed to be able to synchronize the whole notes of an "irregular" WAV line onto the "regular" beats of my project?
