Subject:Acid and Cakewalk Midi

Here is my problem:

I create a simple drum wav file (a hi hat spread out over
half notes). Save it as a wav and exit Acid.

Then I open Cakewalk and import my drum wav file into
cakewalk pro 9 and import it as a wav.

Then I try to compose using midi by using notation on the
staff.

Problem: They are not in sync. The wav file does not line
up with the measures on the staff for midi. Both programs
are set to quarternote - 120. How do I get these two to
agree that one measure equals 4 beats.

All I want to do is compose midi in sync with an acid loop
and then export that as a wav to be used with other
material (ie acoustic guitar).

I am not that familiar with MIDI, so if anyone could give
me a step by step direction on how to set this up would be
great!!!!. All I have is my computer, Cakewalk and Acid.
Thanks in advance

hey james.
I think the solution to your problem is that you must make
sure that cakewalk is set to the same tempo as acid BEFORE
you import the audio. If you import the audio first, then
when you change the tempo, cakewalk will preform a tempo
stretch operation on the audio file (it thinks that you
want to change the tempo of the audio, not set the tempo to
match the audio). The other way to get past this problem
is to perform the tempo change in cakewalk using the
pulldown menu (as opposed to just typing in the correct
tempo into the metronome) and making sure that the "stretch
audio" field is not checked.
I hope this helps! good luck,
rob
