Render Problems; File Size?

SRStudios wrote on 1/12/2008, 8:08 AM
I just rendered a video project on Vegas 8.0, 1 hour project - everything worked fine except instead of one rendered file I have three files. I believe this is a configuration/option issue based on the size of file Windows XP allows on certain drives. I've searched the options and can't seem to find where to make a change to get one single rendered file instead of several. Please Help - Many Thanks!

It sounds like you may have rendered to a drive that is using the FAT32 file system and you have reached that file systems limits for filesizes. If this is the case, the only way to fix this is to render to a drive that uses the NTFS file system so that Vegas can make larger files.

Thanks, yes it is a FAT 32 External Drive. Is there a simple way to convert this drive to a NTFS? It is one of my bigger drives for storing large video files. Thanks for the immediate response.

There is a convert command which will convert the drive in place. I would make sure you have a backup in case anything goes wrong. Open a command prompt and type:

CONVERT D: /FS:NTFS

Where D: is the drive you want to convert. Type: convert /? for the help on this command.

AWESOME, JohnnyRoy you are the best. I converted the drive without a single hitch and now I'm back in business writing Large Video files to this drive. Wow, this has been the best SONY Forum experience yet in my many years of using this service. Thanks Again,
