I've been trying to reverse a song using SF9 and after removing the spots where there is no sound and saving, the file becomes distorted and you hear that computorized distortion (or in other words you still hear the song but in the foreground is that distorted computer sound.) Anyone know why?

Not sure what "that distorted computer sound" is.

Are you inadvertently doing something that is causing the waveform to clip (look and see) ? You are aware that a reversed song is likely to sound a little strange .....?

As to why you'd want to reverse a song, well, that's up to you. Maybe the lyric really is satanic, and the devil has rooted your computer .

geoff

I wonder if "saving" is the key here. Maybe the file's being saved in a different format, lower bitrate, sample rate, or bit depth. Maybe it's just being compressed too much. What does it sound like on the timeline after reversing it but before saving it?

I know that reversed songs is likely going to sound strange but here's what I mean: http://profile.imeem.com/TrZdfuI/music/fZLlGA_0/thats_what_i_love_about_christmasmp3/ (only listen to the foreground music.) Chienworks: It sounds the same way it does when played forwards only reversed. Oddly enough, its saved as an MP3 like all the others I've reversed and this is the only one I've had problems with.

I can only hear about 1/4 second of that without being an imeem member, sorry.

What bitrate did you use when you saved it? How does it sound if you save it as a .wav file instead?

That worked, thanks, Chien!

That's what i figured. You must have been saving to too low a bitrate. When you save to MP3 make sure you pick at least 64Kbsp for stereo music. 128Kbps is what most folks consider minimum quality. Also move the quality slider all the way to the right. This doesn't change the bitrate any, but it does make Sound Forge produce a better sounding file.
