Subject:How best to remove pops from sound files

I have SoundForge XP v4.5. I inherited a bunch of au files that have patterns of pops embedded in the sound. I'd like to hear a theory as to why a sound file would have pops in a regular pattern, but what I really need is a way to get them out. Editing them out of quiet part was easy. When they're embedded into other sound, it's another matter. Is there a way to isolate the pop? Perhaps by playing the sound in "slow motion"? Is there a way to slow down playback for editing purposes? |

Hey Joe... You could try stretching the sound file, phasing it out and allowing you to see each event (almost!). Another thing you could try (if you have the money) is to pick up a copy of something like Steinberg Declicker or another noise reducing plugin. These specilise in removing popping, clicking and improving the general sound quality of any recorded sound file. Hope this helps, Si. |
