Subject:Trouble Migrating SF to new PC

I upgraded to a new PC and am having several problems installing Sound Forge on the new machine. If I install ver 8.0d it will not find any plug-ins, not even plug-ins that are included in the installation. If I install ver 8.0a it finds the included plug-ins just find but cannot find my old Sonic Foundry Noise Reduction. A clue might be that when either of these versions starts I get this error [An Exception Occurred while trying to run "D:\Program File... \forgek.dll,_sfplugin_growel@16-1 1033 Sony_grovel_event"]. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling every way I know how with no success.

Ver 8.0d and the Noise Reduction both worked fine on my old computer. Can anyone help me with this?

Very Frustrated!

I assume this is a Vista machine.

Sound Forge 8.0 significantly pre-dates and is not officially supported under Windows Vista, but you'll find some pointers on how to get it to work if you search these forums. Namely, you'll have to disable DEP and/or run in WinXP compatibility mode.

Both old and new PCs are running XP pro.

Old one was a700 mHz with 264 MB of memory.

New one is 3 GHz E8400 dual core with 2 GB of memory.

I don't think this is related to the problem but the old one had a SoundBlaster audio board and the new one has an on board ADI AD1988B audio system.

Any ideas what's going on?
