After I change the rate from say 1.00 to .71, how do I save it to my disk? I've tried repeatedly but when I load it up its still at 1.00. thanks |

You can't save rate changes. The rate slider is only there as a convenience for playback while editing. Go to Effects / Pitch / Bend. Drag the line down to 71% and apply. That will physically change the file to play slower. Then you can save it that was as a new file. |

Thanks, when you say "drag the line down to 71%", do you mean the semi tones line? |

I think there were crossed wires, and what was meant was the time stretch choice in the process menu. Set your input format to percentage, and then slide to 71% |

Time stretch is a whole different beast and doesn't do what rate or pitch shift do at all. Sorry about that, i had a brainless moment and forgot that pitch shift is in semitones, not percent. It's easy enough to convert between them with the right formula and a scientific calculator. I'll post instructions later. In the mean time i'll tell you that 71% is just about the same as dropping the pitch 6 semitones (70.71%). Each semitone is 5.9463094%, though you have to multiply the numbers rather than add them. More info later ... after the work crises are over. |

a bit late, but thanks for your time all. What Chien described works fine. |
