Hi,

Please can anyone tell me if it is possible to chop breaks in audio studio 9, and export each seperate hit as a wav for further use in cubase.

I have tried various ways but it just doesn't seem possible. Checked the manual several times as well, but nothing in there. Responses i got on another forum indicate that this was as simple as 'export region to wav' in earlier editions. Looks like they have taken that out now.

Thanks

If you elaborate on what you are trying to accomplish, one us us will likely have a solution.

i want to import a breakbeat into audio studio, and then after processing (distortion / filters / etc) set slice points (i guess markers or regions is the correct name) so each drum hit in said breakbeat is seperate.

once the correct envelope points are set i want to export the seperate drum hits as wav files, so then i can use them in cubase for re-arrangement and layering with other breaks.

it seems that it is not possible in this audio studio 9, from my own experiments, the manual and other people's input.
could any experienced user please explain / confim this?

thanks

based on "full" soundforge:

Make each slice a region, then simply go to tools, extract regions. Each regions will now be its own wave file.

I don't know if it is possible in SF Audio Studio, but it is certainly possible in the full version of Sound Forge.

In the full version of SF much of the process can be automated using scripts (which you won't have in SF Audio Studio) but the manual version of the process goes like this:

1. Place Markers at the start of each drum hit using the M key.
2. Convert Markers to Regions by clicking on Special|Regions List|Markers to Regions.
3. Save each Region to a separate .wav file by clicking on Tools|Extract Regions.

If Audio Studio has all these tools then you should be able to achieve what you are after.

Just to clarify, Audio Studio does not have the Extract Regions tool (or scripting features) found in the full version.

So a brute force Step 3 would be:

Select region (double-click or use Regions List view)
Copy (Ctrl+C)
Paste to New (Ctrl+E)
Save (Ctrl+S)
repeat...
