Hello & thanks for looking :) (using Sound Forge v9) Problem: I have a long speech/dialogue .wav file that I want to split up into approximately 50 files (chapters) which I will eventually burn to a CD (thus allowing easy access to the different chapters). Just like any music cd. Yes, I could burn the whole file to a CD, however, everytime the CD would start, it would always start from the beginning and would require fast forwarding....PAIN!...not practical. My experience up to this time, has been to open up the long file and then copy & paste each selection into a SF file and then save each chapter/section into a SF file. After doing 50 files of this, I'd lose my mind and go off on a drinking bender for 2-weeks ;) Of course, my wife can't understand this behavior after one of my Sound Forge sessions. Is there anyway (working on the primary long file) to split it up (into 50 chapters) and then automatically save them to 50 different files for later use in creating a CD? Note: I would want to save the 50 files in .wav & .mp3 format. It isn't clear to me that Regions or Playlists can do what I want; or I can't see the forest for the trees. Thanks for your insights....... |

Or, to be a little more complete ... Press M to set a marker at the beginning of each chapter. When they're all set go to Special / Markers to Regions to convert them all to regions. Go to Tools / Extract Regions to save each chapter as a separate .wav file. If you're burning with CD Architect (included with the full version of Sound Forge 9, i believe), you can set track markers there without splitting the file. |

DVDs have Chapters, CDs have Tracks. Just load the whole file into CDA and put your Track markers wherever you like ! geoff Message last edited on5/25/2008 8:00:42 PM byGeoff_Wood. |

Hello Geoff, Thanks for the comments, but I'll remember your advice. Unfortunately, I do not have CDA, however, it looks like a good thing to have. Regards.......... |
