Hey folks. Long time user of Acid, bought version 3 back when it was still Sonic Foundry. I was using it on Win98SE then and only rarely had issues. Never had problems on XP either. However, my old studio computer began to act like it was going to die and I decided to get a new one. Having limited choices in that area, I got suckered into buying a new system that had Vista installed on it. I got a new authorization code and installed Acid. I was able to use the sequencing and mixing as normal, but the instant I try to use a DirectX effect, it goes dumb. Freezing or crashing entirely. I have had problems with other programs involving DirectX as well, so that seems to be the problem. I updated to DirectX 9 with no effect. So, I'm out of ideas. If anyone can help me make my computer productive again, I'll be indebted forever. Thanks for reading this far. |

I think you've basically got two choices. You could use your old XP license key and install XP on your new computer, or you could upgrade to ACID 6. The first choice would probably involve searching some XP forums looking for unofficial drivers for your new hardware. The second choice is probably the better way to go. Lots of folks in this forum have had success getting ACID 6 running under Vista with minor tweaks. |

Thanks for replying. Good to know people are getting Vista to play nice with Acid. I'll try downloading the demo for v.6 and see if it'll work. |
