Subject:filtering and effects

i have recently purchased SF 9 and am recording 24 hour voice recordings on subjects that cough. Could anyone help as to what effects or filters i could use on SF 9 to remove non-coughs events as much as possible??

Is the space between the coughs relatively silent? If so, Tools / Auto Region can place region markers around the coughs. It's then easy to double-click between the coughs and press the Del key.

If there is continuous sound then you are pretty much stuck manually listening through the material and making your own marks for deletion. The JKL keys may come in very handy though. Pressing L speeds up the playback up to 4x. J does the same thing in reverse. K pauses. Holding the K down and pressing either J or L will move in increments of 0.25x. This way you can scan through the recording much faster and easily back up to the start of a cough when you hear one.
