I have just built a new PC. Q9450 with Vista 64, all updated drivers and bios. Installed VV8b no problem. Installed DVDA5 with no problem. Trying to install SF8d and can't get past the needs NET 1.1 to run. I think Vista has Net 2.0? Never used Vista before. How do I install SF8 on this? I have VV7e on the other machine with DVDA4 and SF8d running XP MCE. What am I missing? Thanks Gary Ashorn. |

OK, I decided what the heck just try and install. I read lots of articles from various forums to see what the issues were. I am running a new machine with Vista 64 SP1. If figured if Vista did not like it then it would tell me. Net1.1 installed and then I ran the update for Vista and it installed. Both gave a notice that there were issues with the program with Vista and to check online for resolutions before proceeding. Well I have been doing that for 2 days. So I said run. Both ran and installed. I then ran my SF8 to install and it went fine. Vegas 8b finds it fine as well. So twitching is over but I do wish Sony would POST things about this so we don't have to figure it out over and over and over on our own. Anyway, not sure this will work for others but it did for me. Thanks for the help. Gary Ashorn |

It's probably a case of Sony not bowing low before the altar of Microshaft and the anti-christ Bill Gates. That is, the Sony apps may not be signed by MS for use in Vista and therefore not considered worthy of blind trust like Vista is (cough, cough). Just curious - which gave you the problem messages - Vista or the Sony apps? |

LOL, I am a lover of Quattro Pro and Paradox so I like your style. Well, Vista did not give me a problem. I have a new system with Vista with SP1. I was just trying to install all my Sony programs, VV8b, DVDA5 and SF8. SF8 wanted NET1.1. I did some reading to figure out what and who wanted what. Turns out Sony SF8 has to have NET1.1 and Vista has NET3.0 which includes NET2.0....but not NET1.1. Checking around on the web many stated Vista would not properly install NET1.1 and once you did you had to add the Vista update. Well, after reading all the jump through hoops stuff, I decided heck just try and load it and see what Vista had to say. I loaded fine and then I put in the patch. Then I installed SF8 and it went like a champ. So now it is all loaded and not a complaint from any of the systems. Maybe I lucked out. I used the versions from the download page here. So go figure So take that MS! Gary Ashorn |
