Can anyone point me to a free in-depth tutorial for wave hammer - what I've found online so far is either cursory or not free. Thanks |

You may find such a tutorial, and without any intent to discredit the approach you seek, Wavehammer is a more intuitive solution. You may want to start with learning the basics of audio compression, since Wavehammer is a compression utility. Do a google. The rest is up to your level of understanding of dB levels and dynamic range. Since I am not visual learner, I suggest you listen and play with it conservatively until you hit upon the right parameters for your taste and source material. This is a learning curve, far more so than can be taught or learned through a tutorial. Listen and Learn! Message last edited on8/27/2008 8:24:48 PM bymusicvid10. |

As longtime an almost everyday user of Wavehammer I concur with Musicvid, conservatively is the key, unless your looking for a special effect. Bone-up on the compression and peak limiting process. You will find, too much will add distortion and destroy dynamics and otherwise be counter-productive. I have yet to use a pre-set that works without some tweaking. |

For a basic explanation of compression and limiting, this is a good place to start: [url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_level_compression |
